- Orientation: Bi-weekly orientation with comprehensive onboarding
Job Requirements
- Active NC RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
- BLS and PALS certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of pediatric nursing experience required
- Strong pediatric med/surg or pediatric step-down experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, enteral feedings, oxygen delivery, seizure disorders, and tracheostomy care
- Ability to provide a supervisory reference from within the last year
- Flu vaccination required with no exemptions
- Travel nurses should be prepared to meet compliance timelines and maintain strong communication throughout onboarding
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, age-appropriate pediatric nursing care on a 34-bed unit
- Monitor and assess intermediate and step-down patients requiring closer observation than general med/surg care
- Administer medications, blood products, and specialty therapies as ordered
- Perform pediatric assessments, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Support patients and families with education, reassurance, and compassionate communication
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team including respiratory therapy, IV team, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response support
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold unit standards for quality, safety, and infection prevention
- Contribute to a collaborative pediatric healthcare environment that values teamwork and clinical excellence
