Job Summary:
Psychologist specializing in Pediatric Psychology is needed in Bangor, Maine. This role involves providing mental health services to pediatric patients aged 5 to 18 years old within a secure, acute inpatient setting. The position requires flexibility to float between pediatric and adult units as needed, with a team focused on comprehensive medical and psychiatric care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Evening shift, 8 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 09/28/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid Maine State License, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, de-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints, medication administration, group facilitation, and documentation skills. No minimum experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric behavioral health experience, especially in a mental health inpatient setting. Pediatric behavioral health experience is highly preferred.
- Float: Float: Float rotation may be required between pediatric and adult units.
- Additional Information: The facility is a secure, free-standing acute inpatient psychiatric facility serving patients with diagnoses such as eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria. Patient ratios include 5-6 pediatric and 13 adult patients per RN during day shifts, with support staff available for assistance. The unit employs various therapies, including pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens. The team operates with a comprehensive charting system and equipment, primarily Cerner and Pyxis. Orientation includes one week of facility and unit training, followed by scheduled shifts. The facility observes every other weekend rotation and expects holiday coverage in rotation.
- Support and Supervision: Support available from the Nurse Manager, DON/CNO, and other leadership. The nurse manager is approachable for addressing issues or concerns.
