Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Oncology RN for a night shift assignment at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring APHON certification and 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Pediatric Oncology unit with occasional floating to the sister BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) unit
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Average patient ratio of 1:3
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Uses Epic charting system
• Academic Medical Center with 1,000+ beds and Level I Trauma Center designation

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required (or in process, as CT license issuance takes 15-21 business days)
• BLS and APHON certification required
• CPHON or CPON certification preferred
• Chemotherapy Administration certification required
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric oncology RN experience required (1.5 years considered if from a Level I Trauma Center or large hospital)
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, port care and management, and central line blood draws
• Experience administering chemotherapy and managing associated symptoms and body fluid handling
• Experience with blood transfusions
• 1 professional reference required
• Pending license candidates accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to pediatric oncology patients including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
• May float to the BMT unit as needed based on facility requirements
• Previous charge experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers accepted as long as they have RN experience
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a travel RN
• Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons
