Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring APHON certification and CT/compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Pediatric Oncology unit within a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center
  • May also work on the sister BMT unit as needed
  • Average patient ratio of 1:3
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active or pending CT (Compact) RN license accepted
  • BLS and APHON certifications required
  • CPHON or CPON certification preferred
  • Chemotherapy Administration certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years considered if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, port care and management, and central line blood draws
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and symptom management
  • Experience with body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
  • 1 professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care to pediatric oncology patients including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
  • Administer blood transfusions and manage blood products as needed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous travel experience not required
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • RTO requests up to 7 days can be auto-approved; requests beyond 7 days require additional approval
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
