Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2+ years of PICU experience and BLS/PALS certification.

Details

  • General Pediatric ICU setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • Blocked schedules available: Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon
  • Schedule will fit the needs of the unit, including rotating shifts
  • Cerner charting system preferred but not required
  • Mandatory floating required, including Patient Observer/Sitter duties across the organization
  • On-call availability required

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • TNCC certification preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
  • Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations and administration of emergency medications including antiarrhythmics and IV vasopressors
  • Respiratory skills required including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

Additional Information

  • Care for critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced ICU environment
  • Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring flexibility for rotating shifts and inclement weather coverage
  • Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
  • Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
  • Travelers residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate
  • Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses should be expected
  • Non-billable training modules (4-6 hours) completed during orientation and annually
