The Emergency Room Pediatric (ER PEDS) Nurse is based in the organizations healthcare facility and is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients in the emergency setting. This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, standards of professional practice, and regulatory requirements.
Job Details:
- Position Description: The ER PEDS Nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care for pediatric patients, utilizing specialized knowledge and skills. Responsibilities include reviewing patient history, conducting assessments, formulating care plans, and providing direct patient care. The role involves supervision and delegation, promoting continuity of care, evaluating patient responses, and maintaining accurate documentation. The nurse may participate in research activities and contribute to healthcare quality improvement.
- Required Qualifications: Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of recent experience as an RN in an acute care setting within the past 12 months in the specialty area.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree preferred. Professional certification is preferred.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: This role involves interaction with various staff levels, physicians, patients, and external contacts in multiple settings. The nurse is expected to synthesize and prioritize data effectively to support patient and family responses to health status changes.
