Join our team as a Pediatric CVICU RN at a leading acute-care hospital in Charlotte, NC. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a prestigious Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center that is recognized for its excellence in pediatric cardiac care. As a part of our dedicated team, you will provide specialized care to critically ill children aged 0-18 years with congenital heart differences, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.

Facility Overview:

• 247 Licensed Beds
• Teaching Hospital
• Chest Pain Center
• Certified Stroke Center
• Congenital Cardiology ranked #7 by USNWR

Unit Information:

• 20 Beds, divided into two mirrored sides with 10 beds each
• Centralized nurses station for critical patient monitoring

Required Experience:

• 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similar facility
• First-time travelers are accepted

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• High acuity patients with congenital heart differences
• Post-surgery, medical management of pre-transplant and post-transplant patients
• Patients requiring ECMO, Impella, Dialysis, and Aquadex (Renal Replacement Therapy)

Patient Ratios:

• RN: Varies on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, 1:2
• CNA: 1 NA per day for support duties

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS, PALS, NIHSS

Skills Required:

• Experience with fresh open heart post-operative patients
• Transplant experience
• Familiarity with Aquadex, Impella, and ECMO devices
• EPIC experience
• Ability to float to PICU as needed

Support within the Department:

• 1 Health Care Tech per day for support duties
• Unit Secretary available every shift
• Charge nurse and Resource Nurse free floating
• 24/7 RT, Cardiologist, and Intensivist support

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC (required)
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips

Orientation:

• NEO orientation for 2 days

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other weekend or fewer as needed
• Call requirement: Yes, based on previous date
• Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays; unit requirement is every other holiday
• Shift times: 0645 – 1845, 1845 - 0645
• Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
