Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN for a Magnet-recognized children's hospital, requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and current PALS, NRP, and BLS certifications.
Details
- Float pool position covering Pediatric Acute Care Surgical, Pediatric Acute Care Medical, Pediatric Intermediate Care, Pediatric Oncology, PICU, and NICU units
- Cares for pediatric patients across the full acuity spectrum including acute, intermediate, oncology, neonatal, and critical care needs
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1-2:4
- Floating required across units and potentially to nearby affiliate hospitals
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license required
- OR RN license required for submission
- BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skilled in care of ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management
- Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy and administration of blood and blood products
- Skilled in insulin administration and pediatric dosage calculations
- Skilled in urinary catheter insertion and management
- Experience with infection control, isolation precautions, and PPE
- Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
- COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
- Work history must include the last seven years with city, state, dates of employment, and PTO details
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care within assigned units according to unit-specific patient population needs
- Must be available to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day)
- Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
- Former OHSU employees or travelers must have a completed reference from their previous OHSU manager
- Candidates must be gone at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
- Requested time off must be submitted upfront and not exceed 2 weeks
- Background checks are comprehensive and lifetime in scope; any background or license issues will not be accepted
