Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong PICU experience and DC licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Float between PICU, CVPICU, and NICU units based on facility needs
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, with ratios up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
  • Every other weekend required, with openness to blocked weekend scheduling
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license required; DC license required, with pending license accepted if application is submitted within 24-48 hours of signing
  • MD or VA compact or state license also required depending on assignment location
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required; 3 years preferred
  • Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Strong skills in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with critical care skills such as arterial line management, central line care, and IV therapy
  • Familiarity with pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across PICU, CVPICU, and NICU settings
  • Must be comfortable floating between units to meet facility staffing needs
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and free of logos
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required, with one holiday guaranteed based on preference
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; taking a full consecutive week off requires making up the time by extending the assignment
  • Locals accepted with no mileage restriction at the standard bill rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year to be eligible for return
  • Pre-start orientation modules must be completed prior to beginning the assignment
