Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong PICU experience and the ability to float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 320 staffed beds
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2, with ratios up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • Float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU based on facility needs
  • Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
  • Every other weekend required, with openness to blocked weekend scheduling
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required (pending license accepted, but active license required before start)
  • MD/VA locations require compact or state license
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Strong PICU skills required, including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
  • Experience with critical care skills such as central line management, IV therapy, and hemodynamic monitoring required
  • Comfort floating to and providing care in CVPICU and NICU settings required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across NICU, PICU, and CVPICU units as needed
  • Care for patients with a wide range of conditions including congenital heart disease, post cardiac surgery, and post neurosurgery cases
  • Perform specialized procedures such as CRRT, ECMO support, and ICP monitoring depending on unit assignment
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and logo-free
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required, with one holiday guaranteed based on preference
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; any full week off requires making up missed shifts or extending the assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
  • Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least one year
  • Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
