Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU and NICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Float pool position covering various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med-Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week on a 52-week assignment
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
• Preferred certifications: APHON, CPHON, OCN
• Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (can submit with certification pending)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Must be comfortable caring for NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED patients
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Peds PACU experience highly preferred
• Previous travel experience required, though candidates with NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Float between pediatric units according to scope of practice and facility float policy
• Up to 40 hours of RTO may be approved per 13-week contract; no RTO approved during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Disclose any planned vacation time between sign date and start date to ensure a feasible start date
• No radius rule applies to this position
• Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation plus leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
