Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong PICU experience and the ability to float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU.
Details
- Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position at a Magnet-designated, academic teaching, Level I trauma pediatric hospital with 320 staffed beds
- Floats between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU to meet facility needs
- Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, with ratios up to 1:3 when floated to NICU
- Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) or night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) available
- Every other weekend required, with openness to blocked weekend scheduling
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required, applied for within 24-48 hours of signing if pending
- Compact or state RN license required for MD/VA
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required, 3 years preferred
- Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
- Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Strong pediatric critical care skill set required, including ventilator management, central line care, IV therapy, and pediatric dosage calculations
Additional Information
- Provide direct bedside critical care to pediatric patients across PICU, NICU, and CVPICU units as needed
- Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and logo-free
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
- Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week off requires making up missed shifts or extending the assignment
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one guaranteed holiday based on preference and the second based on facility need
- Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least one year
- Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
