Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU, NICU, and PACU experience along with an active VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Float pool position covering multiple pediatric units including PICU, NICU, peds med/surg, peds PACU, peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- 36 or 48 hours per week with block scheduling not guaranteed
- 13-week contract assignment
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Must float within scope of practice according to facility float policy
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA or compact) required, pending license accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
- Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Must be comfortable working in NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED settings
- Peds PACU experience highly preferred
- Prior travel experience required, though candidates with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
- No RTO can be approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for an appropriate start date
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience
- Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have a 1-year separation plus leadership approval to return
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
