Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN requiring 2 years of Peds ICU experience and a South Carolina or Compact RN license for a night shift assignment at a children's hospital.

Details

  • Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position within a children's hospital setting
  • Floats within scope to all pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
  • Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Requires working every other weekend
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
  • BLS and PALS certification required (American Heart Association only)
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
  • ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
  • Experience with pediatric dosage calculations, IV vasopressors, and continuous sedation
  • Skilled in care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with central line, PICC line, and chest tube management
  • ICP monitoring experience
  • Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Driver's license and Social Security number required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers with the required Peds ICU experience will be considered
  • Candidates must live within 60 miles of the facility to be considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Block scheduling may be requested but requires manager approval and is dependent on unit needs
  • All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application, as approval is based on unit needs
  • During hurricane season (June through November, peaking in August and September), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
  • Care responsibilities include managing anti-seizure and emergency medications, infection control/PPE protocols, and isolation precautions
