Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring 2 years of Peds ICU experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work within the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool at a children's hospital
  • Float to all pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU based on facility needs
  • Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3 depending on unit
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed and depends on unit needs

Requirements

  • Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
  • ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
  • Experience with medications including anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
  • Skilled in pediatric dosage calculations
  • Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, acute airway care, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience managing chest tubes, central lines, implanted lines, and PICC lines
  • ICP monitoring experience
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Knowledge of infection control, PPE, and isolation precautions
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units based on facility staffing needs
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the required experience
  • Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local, with non-local candidates prioritized for this role
  • All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration for approval
  • Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season, which runs June through November with peak activity in August and September
