Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN with NICU Level III and PICU experience for a night-shift assignment requiring NJ or compact licensure.

Details

• NICU-based float pool with floating required to PICU, Peds, and Newborn Nursery (NBN) without exception
• Appropriate patient assignments provided based on skill set when floated
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00pm-8:00am)
• 37.5 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios vary based on unit, acuity, census and staffing
• Cares for neonates as young as 24-28 weeks gestation
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience required
• Documented NICU Level III and PICU experience required in employment history
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central/implanted line care, UAC/UVC management
• Experience with IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
• Ventilator management experience required (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Experience with feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube placement and management
• Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome care experience required

Additional Information

• Work in a 56-bed Level III NICU that is a Regional Perinatal Center caring for more than 1,200 premature and ill newborns annually
• PICU provides comprehensive medical and surgical care with full-time pediatric critical care physicians and subspecialists
• Located within a 597-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
• Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Scrub requirement: navy pants with pediatric top
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
