Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Ambulatory Care RN for a day-shift position requiring pediatric GI nursing experience and Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

  • Pediatric Ambulatory Care unit within a children's hospital setting
  • Patient population includes pediatric GI and general pediatric clinic patients
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Candidates may float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals per unit needs
  • Duties include triage, patient assessment, medication administration, specimen collection, and assisting with procedures

Requirements

  • Active RN license with OR license required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of pediatric GI or GI nursing experience required
  • Previous ambulatory nursing experience required
  • Previous experience with Epic EMR required
  • Peds and triage experience required; pediatric GI clinic experience preferred
  • Travel experience required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills required
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exemptions accepted
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
  • Comprehensive work history verification covering the last seven years required

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include telephone triage, chart preparation, patient teaching, biohazard waste disposal, and following universal precautions
  • Performs venipuncture, capillary collection, and specimen labeling
  • Assists with setup of aseptic and sterile procedure trays
  • Handles referrals, authorization forms, and pharmacy/medication refill requests
  • Floating to affiliate hospitals nearby may be required; refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
  • No mileage radius restriction; local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months to be eligible
  • Requested time off must be submitted upfront and not exceed 2 weeks
  • First-time travelers may be considered if otherwise well qualified
  • 13-week minimum contract length, with longer contracts negotiable
