Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Acute Care Float Pool position requiring NJ or Compact licensure and 1.5 years of pediatric nursing experience.

Details

  • Pediatric Acute Care Float Pool unit within an academic pediatric medical campus
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Patient ratio of 1:5, varying based on unit, census, and acuity
  • Floats between Peds Hem/Onc (no chemo/infusions), Pediatrics, Adolescents, NBN, and Special Care Nursery (growers/feeders)
  • Also takes Med/Surg assignments in PICU, NICU, and Peds ED areas
  • Must float within skillset without exception
  • Required to work every other weekend (Fri/Sat night)
  • Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
  • EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • APHON certification preferred
  • 1.5 years of well-rounded pediatric nursing experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy including blood/blood product administration, central line/implanted line care, IV starts, TPN/lipids, transfusions, and IV pumps
  • Experience with NG tube insertion/management, G-tube, tracheostomy care, and respiratory treatments
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and pulse ox monitoring
  • Experience with pre/post op care, phlebotomy, and foley catheter care

Additional Information

  • Provide direct pediatric care across multiple units including hematology/oncology, general pediatrics, adolescents, newborn nursery, and special care nursery
  • Work within a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and academic children's hospital offering family-centered care from newborns through adolescents
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees of the health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
