Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
  • Shifts per Week: 3
  • Weekend Coverage: Six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
  • Unit: 41-bed progressive care, trauma, and telemetry unit
  • Typical Patient Ratio: 1:4, flexing to 1:5 as needed
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients with surgical trauma diagnoses
  • Charting System: Epic electronic medical record

PCU RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in South Carolina
  • At least 1 year of recent PCU, progressive care, stepdown, DOU, IMC, or telemetry nursing experience; 2 or more years is preferred for first-time travel nurses
  • At least 1 year of recent Epic electronic medical record experience
  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Strong telemetry nursing experience, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
  • Ability to complete required medication testing, pre-assignment testing, and orientation activities
  • Flexibility to float to other qualified units or locations as patient census and staffing needs require

Progressive Care RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric patients recovering from traumatic injuries and surgical interventions.
  • Monitor patients on telemetry and recognize changes in cardiac rhythm or clinical condition.
  • Manage patients with penetrating injuries, motor vehicle trauma, falls, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and orthopedic trauma.
  • Provide care involving central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, wound vacs, and blood products.
  • Manage therapies and interventions including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, heparin protocols, PCA, and isolation precautions.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately while following established protocols.
  • Collaborate with rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rehabilitation, radiology, phlebotomy, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners.
  • Initiate appropriate interventions and escalate changes in patient status to the provider and care team.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic.
