Job Title

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown

Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a Progressive Care / Cardiac Stepdown unit, including heart cath recovery, cardiac drip management, and post-op open-heart patients
  • Care for cardiac and med-surg stepdown patients in accordance with unit protocols and patient acuity
  • Work an expected schedule that includes every third weekend and one holiday coverage, subject to change based on census and staffing needs
  • Float to other units during periods of low census or staffing coverage needs, as required
  • Utilize Epic EMR for all clinical documentation
  • Be prepared to care for ventilated patients in rare circumstances based on patient needs and staffing requirements, though ventilator patients are not typically admitted to this unit

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of cardiac stepdown experience
  • Demonstrated experience with open-heart post-operative patients
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR
  • Comfort providing care to ventilated patients when needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with cardiac drip management and heart cath recovery
  • Familiarity with floating to varied units within an acute care setting
  • Strong adaptability in environments with fluctuating census and staffing demands
