Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Night Shift PCU position requiring recent PCU/IMC experience and NY licensure.

Details

  • Mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) treating MS Tele and MS patients
  • Patient population includes surgical pre/post care for ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and ortho surgery, with occasional overflow medical diagnosis patients
  • Rare pediatric patients seen, and only assigned to experienced staff
  • Patient ratios range from 1:3-5 for days/weekends and 1:3-7 for nights, adjusted by acuity
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to sister units including West 2, West 3, and Observation unit
  • Uses Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication
  • 12-hour unit orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active NY RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
  • PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; PALS preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Strong skill set required in MS/Tele care including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, central and peripheral line management, blood product administration, and respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management)
  • TCAR experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across a mixed acuity unit managing telemetry, post-surgical, and medical overflow patients
  • Manage cardiac drips, insulin drips, and various IV therapies as part of daily patient care
  • Perform wound care, isolation precautions, and post-op monitoring for ortho and general surgery patients
  • Solid color scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Maximum requested time off (RTO) is 7 days
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Previous employees are subject to a 6-month system-wide return policy
