Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac and Medical PCU/Stepdown position requiring telemetry and cardiac drip management experience on night shift.

Details

  • Cardiac and Medical PCU - true ICU stepdown unit within a short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
  • Cares for heart cath, BiPAP, and cardiac/vasoactive drip patients including Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, and Amio
  • Utilizes PCU Crisis Criteria
  • Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 18:00-6:30
  • Weekend requirement
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • No on-call requirement
  • Cerner charting system used

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
  • Current certifications required: ACLS and BLS (NIHSS preferred)
  • Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
  • Previous ICU experience highly preferred
  • Skilled in telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen required
  • Experience in a Trauma Level I, II, III, or IV facility required
  • Ventilator management, charge nurse experience, and conscious sedation experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide stepdown-level cardiac and medical nursing care including monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
  • Scrub color requirement: red top, black bottoms
  • Free parking provided
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit
  • Any prior perm or PRN employee of IU Health must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
