Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU position requiring 18 months of experience and an IN or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a short-term acute care hospital
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
  • 8-week assignment length
  • Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital for all travelers
  • May float to Med Surg unit taking up to 6 patients
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (IN or Compact) required in hand prior to start date
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1.5 years (18 months) of experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips preferred
  • Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram/cath care, and TR Band preferred
  • Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
  • 2 supervisor references required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within the PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown setting
  • Responsibilities include continuous bladder irrigation, renal failure management, feeding tube care, heparin protocol management, wound care, and isolation precautions
  • Care for patients with CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal
  • Scrub color requirement: black pants with a red top
  • Free parking available
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position
  • Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
