Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced assessment and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to manage vasoactive drips. This role requires a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:3 AM, 1:4 AM, 1:4 PM, and 1:5 PM (with patient care technicians available)
• Staffing: Primarily RN-based care with unit secretaries scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM for support
• Equipment: BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and provide appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy, including vasoactive drips.
• Perform procedures such as central line or PICC line placements and chest tube insertions.
• Engage in bedside shift reporting, hourly rounding, and daily leadership rounds.
• Participate in patient care planning and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Scheduling Requirements

• Full-Time Staff: 36 hours/week with every 3rd weekend rotation
• Part-Time Staff: 48 hours/week with every 3rd weekend rotation
• PRN Staff: Flexible scheduling with weekend shifts required
• Rotating holiday schedule

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a similar setting
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Positive attitude and commitment to patient-centered care

Dress Code

Charcoal grey scrub tops with charcoal grey or black scrub bottoms, and optional unit-specific jackets in black or charcoal grey.

Floating Policy

Floats are expected to cover shifts in designated units based on staffing needs.
