Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a night shift telemetry/stepdown unit requiring at least 2 years of med/surg and PCU experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with mixed acuity including cardiac telemetry, stepdown, and occasional ICU patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:3-6
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30-07:00, with possible 4x12 schedule for increased weekend availability
  • Weekend rotation required
  • Every other holiday coverage required
  • Standby call as needed
  • Floating required as needed

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in med/surg and PCU required
  • First-time travelers must have at least 3 years of experience in a hybrid unit
  • Must have 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty submitted to
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to assignment start, including adult and pediatric rhythm identification with strict passing criteria
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry monitoring and nursing care for patients with mixed acuity including cardiac, stepdown, and occasional ICU-level needs
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as locals are not accepted
  • Preferred candidates have 1 year of recent PCU or high-level telemetry experience due to mixed patient acuity
  • Free onsite parking available
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
