Job Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• BLS and ACLS certification through AHA
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
• Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC, or cardiac stepdown nurse experience required
• Experience with thoracic, cardiac, oncology, or progressive care patients preferred
• Experience with ventilators and transplant patients required
• Epic charting experience required
• Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
• Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from thoracic and cardiac procedures
• Monitor telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to cardiac changes
• Care for patients with chest tubes, central lines, PICCs, arterial lines, and surgical drains
• Support management of vasoactive drips, insulin protocols, and oxygen therapies
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, IV teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, radiology, and rapid response resources
• Assist with post-operative care for patients following esophagectomies, lung surgeries, and other thoracic procedures
• Maintain safe, compassionate, and efficient care across both stepdown and intermediate care patient populations
• Float to related units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
• Contribute to a team-focused environment that values innovation, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice
