Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200

- Unit: 24-bed PCU with approximately a 1:3–4 nurse-to-patient ratio based on acuity

- Weekend Coverage: May work up to every other weekend
Progressive Care Unit RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Illinois
- At least 1 year of recent progressive care, stepdown, or comparable acute care nursing experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical judgment skills
- Comfort caring for patients requiring continuous monitoring, high-flow oxygen, and intravenous medication infusions
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in scheduled weekend coverage
PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity progressive care and stepdown patients
- Monitor and manage patients with dysrhythmias, cardiopulmonary conditions, sepsis, high-flow oxygen needs, and behavioral health considerations
- Safely administer and titrate ordered intravenous medications, including dopamine, norepinephrine, diltiazem, heparin, dexmedetomidine, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, dobutamine, and nicardipine
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate clinical team
- Collaborate with providers, educators, and interdisciplinary team members to support safe, effective patient care
- Complete accurate documentation and care coordination in EPIC
- Support efficient patient throughput while maintaining high standards of safety, communication, and compassion
