  • Typical Ratios: Approximately 1:3 on days and 1:4 on nights

  • Float Requirement: May float between units or nearby sister locations to meet patient-care needs

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
  • At least 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, progressive care, intermediate care, or telemetry nursing experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Current NIHSS certification or demonstrated proficiency, as required
  • Recent experience with Epic electronic health records
  • Strong telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
  • Ability to manage adult patients with complex conditions and changing acuity in an acute-care setting
  • Willingness to work night shifts, every other weekend, and designated holidays as scheduled

PCU Travel RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult PCU patients in a Level III trauma acute-care setting
  • Monitor and assess patients with conditions including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, chest pain, diabetic ketoacidosis, and substance withdrawal
  • Administer medications and manage protocols including insulin, heparin, PCA, and non-titrated or titrated cardiac infusions as clinically appropriate
  • Perform telemetry monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases, and recognize changes in patient condition
  • Provide central line, PICC, peripheral IV, feeding tube, chest tube, and continuous bladder irrigation care
  • Support patients requiring high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, and other progressive-care interventions
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, IV teams, physical therapy, radiology, phlebotomy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
  • Maintain a safe, organized environment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
