Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit/Stepdown position requiring a NE or compact RN license and prior cardiac/stepdown experience.

Details

• Acute care Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) with 35 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes diagnoses, plus continuous EEG monitoring
• RNs required to titrate drips including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
• Charge Nurse present on each shift
• Nurse aides/patient care techs available at a ratio of 1:10 or 2:20
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required every third holiday
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab

Requirements

• Active NE state or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• BSN not required
• Driver's license required for consideration and used to confirm residence distance
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Fast-paced unit requiring a positive attitude, strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• First week includes onboarding followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
• RNs must pass an open-book pass/fail exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and may not be concurrently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-associated facility
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-associated facility within the past year
• Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission
