  • Patient Population: Adult surgical patients including bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, plastic surgery, urology surgery, and surgical oncology

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of recent registered nurse experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Active Virginia RN license or compact state RN license in hand at time of submission
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Telemetry experience and strong dysrhythmia interpretation skills
  • Experience starting and maintaining IVs
  • Conscious sedation experience preferred
  • Must be willing to work every other weekend and at least 2 holidays during the contract
  • References required at time of submission
  • Ability to float within scope as needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care for adult post-operative and progressive care patients
  • Monitor patients with complex surgical needs and respond promptly to changes in condition
  • Manage telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmias, IV therapy, and other clinical needs within scope
  • Support care for patients undergoing procedures such as CBI, flaps, microsurgery, HIPEC, Whipple, bariatric surgery, and leech therapy
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and rapid response resources
  • Document accurately in Epic and maintain clear communication with the care team
  • Float within scope as needed to support staffing demands
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced surgical PCU environment
