Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in a Stepdown Unit. This position will focus on providing high-quality patient care, monitoring complex cases, and collaborating with a dedicated healthcare team.

Position Details

• Unit: 4th Floor East Wing
• Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Number of Beds: 55
• Patient Population: Adult and some pediatric cases (15 years and older)
• RN Ratio: 1:4
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Times: 0630 - 1830, 1830 - 0630
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including managing drips and PCA pumps.
• Monitor and document patient conditions and respond to changes promptly.
• Engage in patient and family education to support care plans.
• Participate in unit management activities and support team members.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a progressive care or stepdown unit.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Competency in telemetry required.
• Experience with Epic EMR and Alaris IV Pumps preferred.

Unit Support and Resources

• Nursing Assistant support available.
• Access to additional resources including care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.
• Mechanical lifts available in every other room for patient support.

Unit Challenges and Focus Areas

• Addressing staffing challenges to ensure optimal patient care.
• Focusing on patient experience through hourly rounding and responsiveness.
