Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a valid OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Surgical Oncology/PCU unit caring for a mix of PCU and Med Surg patients
  • Adult and geriatric patient population with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics diagnoses
  • Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, may be up to 1:5
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend scheduling varies based on unit needs, no set/blocked scheduling offered
  • Floating required within scope of practice
  • Potential for rotating day/night contract with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period
  • Cares for patients requiring chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips
  • Manages oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome
  • Strong focus on infection prevention and fall protocols
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • ONS Chemo certification preferred
  • 2 years of current acute care experience required, with at least 1 year of PCU experience
  • Acute care experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with respiratory care, BiPAP/CPAP management preferred
  • Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
  • Tracheostomy care/management experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide direct care to surgical oncology and mixed acuity PCU/Med Surg patients
  • Perform cardiac telemetry monitoring and manage dysrhythmias
  • Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice encouraged
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees eligible for assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as travelers
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract prior to submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • Locals accepted at the same pay rate
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently after signing contract due to state requirements
