Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring at least 1 year of PCU and 2 years of acute care experience.

Details

  • PCU unit specializing in acute leukemia and hematology patients
  • Adult and geriatric patient population
  • Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
  • Rotating 12-hour day/night contract possible with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
  • Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
  • Uses Epic for computerized charting

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • ONS Chemo certification preferred (not required for this role)
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
  • At least 1 year of PCU experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred, training provided for oncology patients
  • Skills required: telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, feeding tube care and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Special focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible for a travel assignment at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing to avoid credentialing delays
