Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit

General Information

Join a dynamic team in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Chattanooga, TN. This unit is equipped with 29 beds and maintains a patient ratio of 4:1, offering a collaborative and supportive environment for both staff and patients.

Unit Specifics

• Unit Staffing: Day shift includes a unit secretary and 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) depending on census; night shift has 2-3 PCTs based on census.
• Type of Equipment: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2 monitors, Pyxis medication management, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLab.
• Documentation System: Meditech.
• Scheduling Requirements: 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule, self-scheduling options available, and advance notice for days off is encouraged.
• Floating Policy: Travel nurses float first, with rotation based on float date seniority.
• Patient Experience: Focus on individualized care for cardiac, medical, and surgical patients, with specific populations including CV surgery, sepsis, stroke, and more.

Hiring Profile

The ideal candidate will possess strong cardiac telemetry experience and have a background in PCU or critical care nursing. The PCU specializes in providing advanced care to individuals with complex medical conditions.

Required Skills

• Advanced skills in IV insertion, chest tube management, and central venous catheter (CVC) management.
• Experience with EKGs and Foley catheter management.
• Tracheostomy care experience is a plus.
• Ability to perform various procedures including Foley placements, IV insertions, and wound care management.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Dress Code

Uniform consists of navy scrubs.
