Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• Med surg PCU setting with a mixed patient population including cardiac, minor trauma, respiratory, and mildly unstable hemodynamic patients
• All rooms are negative pressure capable and equipped with ceiling lifts
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:00
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Floating to sister units within the region may be required based on facility needs; travelers will be notified if this occurs
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or compact) in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if they have approximately 2 years of PCU/ICU experience
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work settings

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
• Perform tracheostomy care/management and non-invasive airway management as needed
• Provide feeding tube care and manage heparin protocols and PCA
• Completion of all facility-specific modules required within the first week of the assignment
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with RTO restricted during specific high-demand periods
• Candidates previously employed by the health system or its affiliates may be ineligible for consideration
• Return travelers who completed a full year on assignment may not be rebooked for at least one year
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
