Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring strong cardiac/post-op heart experience and Level I or II trauma experience.

Details

  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes post cardiac surgery and post vascular surgery cases
  • Staffing ratio of 1:3-5 based on patient acuity
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Every other weekend required, with possible consecutive weekends based on operational needs
  • Floating required to different levels of care including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU at both University and Methodist Hospitals
  • May be asked to assume unit charge nurse responsibilities with training and resources provided
  • Cerner charting system experience required

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start date
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Strong cardiac PCU experience with titration of cardiac drips required
  • Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Experience starting and maintaining IVs and administering titrated cardiac drip medications
  • Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • Two supervisor references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac telemetry monitoring and emergency response for post-surgical cardiac and vascular patients
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias as part of daily patient care
  • Perform IV starts and maintenance along with titration of cardiac drip medications
  • COVID vaccine required for all travelers, with medical or religious exemptions accepted with a doctor's note
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler

  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved, with additional time requiring facility approval
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Refusal to float may result in contract termination
