Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position is in a progressive care unit (PCU) dedicated to providing high-quality care to adult patients and occasionally to pediatric patients aged 15 and older.

Unit Information

• Unit: 4th Floor East Wing
• Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Number of Beds: 55
• Patient Population: Adults; pediatrics are rare
• RN Patient Ratio: 1:4 (Days and Nights)
• Shifts: 12 hours
• Shift Times: 0630-1830, 1830-0630
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will manage the daily operations of patient care on the unit, which includes:

• Providing care to patients with various diagnoses, including CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID-19, and subdural hematoma.
• Utilizing common medications and drips, such as PCA pumps for pain management, Cardizem, and insulin.
• Conducting hourly rounding and ensuring timely responsiveness to patient needs.
• Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, including educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, and physical and occupational therapists.

Requirements

• Licensing: Current RN license required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required
• Competencies: Telemetry experience required
• Charting System: Proficient in EPIC EMR

This unit has a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration. Nurses are expected to support each other in providing excellent patient care and managing the business of the day effectively.

Unit Challenges

Staffing challenges may arise, with potential for floating to medical-surgical areas as necessary.

Cancellation Policy

The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts for assignments of 13 weeks or longer, and 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
