Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a progressive care unit. This role involves providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population with various medical needs.

Unit Information

  • Department: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Bed Capacity: 40 beds
  • Average Daily Census: 24 patients
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 for both days and nights
  • Common Diagnoses: Adults with cardiac, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory issues, strokes, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care and support for a variety of conditions and treatments.
  • Monitor and titrate medications and drips, including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
  • Coordinate care with the charge nurse and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform and troubleshoot medical equipment such as high flow oxygen devices.
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips.
  • Utilize overhead and portable lifts for patient mobility as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills and adaptability to dynamic situations.
  • Competence in managing arterial lines and telemetry monitoring.
  • Willingness to float between MedSurg and ICU as needed.

Work Schedule

  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts, including nights.
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
  • Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period.

Additional Information

Orientation includes one day of unit-specific training. The environment is focused on improving patient experience scores and effective communication regarding medication. Candidates should exhibit flexibility, willingness to learn, and ability to take constructive feedback positively. This unit serves a culturally diverse population.

Employees are encouraged to present their requests for time off at the start of their contract, with a limit of 7 days during a 13-week period. Additional time off will not be approved following the initial request.
