Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit – Spokane, WA 99208
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Spokane, Washington
Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:00). Every other weekend required. Block scheduling required. No on-call. Assignment duration is 91 days (approximately 13 weeks).
Highlights:
- Progressive Care Unit position at a Short Term Acute Care facility with Level III Trauma Center designation
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on night shift, 1:3 on day shift
- Daily census of 35 patients in a 42-bed unit with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
- Epic charting system utilized facility-wide
- Floating between units may be required to meet operational needs
- Orientation provided with 24-40 hours of training
Requirements:
- Active RN license (Compact license accepted and must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with patient ratios of 3-4 patients
- Progressive Care Unit/Stepdown/Intermediate Care experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, cardiac drip management and titration, insulin drip titration, high flow nasal cannula, and PCA management
- Experience managing patient diagnoses including congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, ETOH withdrawal, chest pain, and DKA
- Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years required prior to start
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
