Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU Registered Nurse for a float pool position requiring both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure and 1-2 years of recent telemetry experience.

Details

• PCU float pool position covering approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
• No assigned home unit
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Day shift, 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• 8 weekend shifts required per Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• No on-call requirement
• Not open to block scheduling
• Special equipment: 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell

Requirements

• Active RN license - both Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred
• 1 to 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown settings required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Pre/Post Cardiac Cath care required
• Experience managing sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID patients required
• Sheath removal, feeding tube care/management, port accessing, blood product administration, and central line care/management preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor or above and the second from a charge RN, both from within the past year
• Must be willing to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry nursing care within a float pool covering multiple Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units and campuses
• Virtual nursing model utilized on the unit
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• No local candidates accepted
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior service, and permanent BJC/Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• EPIC EMR training required, with a choice between test-out or training module
• Infusion pump and glucometer training required prior to start
