  • Patient Ratios: 1:4
  • Staffing: Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
  • Equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, vital signs machines, wound vacs, temporary pacemakers, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, bladder scanners, Dopplers, mobile communication systems
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Floating Policy: Contract Nurses will be floated to any area where competency has been demonstrated.

Job Summary

The role involves providing care in a fast-paced cardiac telemetry unit. Responsibilities include monitoring patient vitals, interpreting EKGs, and participating in bedside shift reports to enhance patient experience.

Scheduling Requirements

Full-time hours are required, including three weekend shifts per scheduling period.

Staff are expected to align with patient experience goals by treating every patient with respect, responding to their needs promptly, using patients' preferred names, and ensuring clear communication.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills:
    • Experience in Cardiac Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
    • Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
    • Experience with post-cardiac procedural care including Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 open-heart care, and permanent pacemaker placements
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and titrate IV medications including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
  • Perform procedures such as IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemaker management, and Foley catheter insertions

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs are required. Black scrub pants may be worn with a navy blue top.
