Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN with critical care drip and EKG interpretation experience for a 13-week travel assignment.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit setting with 34 beds on unit 630 and 25 beds on unit 633
  • Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
  • Support staff includes up to 3 techs on 630 and 2 techs on 633 when fully staffed
  • Uses BiPAP, high flow O2, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, and wound vacs
  • Documentation completed in Meditech
  • 3x12-hour shifts weekly, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required per contract
  • May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
  • Unit uses self-scheduling with 4-week schedules

Requirements

  • Active RN license (TN or Compact) required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience required
  • Critical thinking skills with strong EKG rhythm interpretation ability required
  • Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips required
  • Peripheral IV skills required
  • Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
  • Experience with BiPAP, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems required
  • Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care required
  • Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tube insertion preferred
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required
  • No gaps in work history of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Perform hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights
  • Follow AIDET communication standards and maintain communication boards on assigned floors
  • Assist with procedures including peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, Dobhoff/NG tube insertions, and central line dressing changes
  • Troubleshoot wound vacs as needed
  • Utilize techs to assist with patient care
  • Black scrubs required as part of dress code
  • Unit known for strong teamwork and a family-like culture
  • Most travelers who work on this unit choose to extend their contracts
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
