Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Trauma Care Stepdown/PCU position requiring NIHSS certification and neuro/trauma care experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (Trauma Care Stepdown) within a hospital setting
• 44-bed unit with 95 staff, including 2 CNC/Charge, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC per shift
• Patient ratio of 4:1 at grid, stretching to 5:1
• Uses IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trach care equipment, and patient lifts
• Cerner EMR system
• Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to stepdown and med-surg units

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• 1 year of recent experience in PCU/stepdown specialty required
• Neuro and trauma care experience required
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Perform neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, and TLSO brace application
• Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Team-oriented, patient-focused personality preferred
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
