Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a float pool position requiring both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure and 2 years of recent telemetry/PCU experience.

Details

  • Float pool position covering roughly 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU and telemetry units across metro campuses, with no assigned home unit
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM-7:15 PM
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • No on-call requirements
  • Cares for patients with cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID diagnoses
  • Performs cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, pre/post cardiac cath care
  • Uses 12 lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell equipment

Requirements

  • Active Kansas and Missouri RN license or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
  • 2 years of recent in-specialty experience required, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port accessing/management, blood product administration, and central line care
  • Previous charge RN experience preferred
  • Two professional references required (one supervisor level or above, one may be charge RN, both from within the past year)
  • SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides telemetry monitoring and emergency response for cardiac and neuro stepdown patients
  • May float between departments, units, and facilities as clinical scope allows
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, finalized at time of consideration with no changes permitted after submission or offer
  • Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of tenure; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travel partners are not accepted
  • EPIC training required prior to start via test-out option or training module
  • Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed prior to start date
