Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of recent PCU, step-down, or telemetry nursing experience
  • Active RN license in good standing
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Strong EKG rhythm interpretation skills
  • Experience managing cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips
  • Comfort with BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
  • Peripheral IV insertion skills preferred
  • Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
  • Experience with stroke care and post-cardiac cath patients preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented acute care environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to complex PCU patients in a progressive care and telemetry setting
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
  • Administer and titrate cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips per protocol
  • Support patients requiring advanced oxygen therapy and respiratory monitoring
  • Assist with procedures and care needs such as peritoneal dialysis, chest tube care, NG/Dobhoff tube management, and wound vac troubleshooting
  • Perform thorough patient assessments and maintain accurate nursing documentation
  • Practice hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights to support patient safety and satisfaction
  • Collaborate with techs and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, efficient patient-centered care
  • Float between PCU areas or to med-surg units as needed
  • Follow unit standards for communication, teamwork, and quality bedside care
