Join our team as a Travel RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step Down at a leading healthcare facility in Asheville, NC. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing care to patients with various cardiac conditions.

Unit Information:

  • Number of Beds: 40
  • Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary
    • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 3 PCTs
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4; stretch staffing at 1:5 ratio
  • Type of Patients: Patients with CHF, MI, CP, arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, post cardiac cath/stent, post pacer/ICD/ablation
  • Type of Equipment: Zoll, Baxter pump, lift equipment, bladder scanner
  • EMR: Cerner

Typical Hiring Profile:

  • Must Have:
    • Stepdown or progressive care experience
    • Telemetry experience
    • Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications like nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutrex, insulin drip, heparin, bumex/Lasix
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
    • Relief charge experience

Typical Procedures Performed:

  • Bedside Cardioversion

Best Personality Fit: Flexible, positive attitude, great team player, compassionate.

Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS

Floating Areas: All MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding.

Dress Code: Scrub color/attire - all white or all navy blue or white top and navy blue pants.

Unit Guidelines/Policies: Will be discussed during orientation.

Weekends and On Call: Every other weekend.
