Travel RN – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Clinical Decision Unit – Nights

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13-Week Travel Assignment | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend required | No on-call required | Projected Start: September 14, 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a 20-bed inpatient overflow unit serving a mixed level of care, including medical-surgical and step-down patients
  • Manage short-stay patients (less than 24-hour length of stay) in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry for all patients hardwired to bedside monitors as clinically indicated
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:5, with stretch to 1:6 dependent on level of care
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, fellow RNs, and CNAs across day and night shifts to ensure safe, patient-centered care
  • Float to other units within the facility as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or a compact state
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care / PCU experience
  • Demonstrated telemetry competency — candidates without this will not be considered
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Recent (current or within the past year) progressive care or step-down experience
  • Experience in high-acuity, fast-turnover inpatient environments
  • Positive, patient-experience-focused attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills
