Travel Nursing Job Details
- Position: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN)
- Location: Morehead City, North Carolina
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Call: Not required
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Floating: As needed within scope of practice
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or stepdown nursing experience
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or a valid compact nursing license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Availability to work 12-hour night shifts and every third weekend
- Applicants must meet the applicable 50-mile radius requirement; local candidates are not eligible
- COVID-19 and influenza vaccination are required, with medical or religious exemptions considered according to assignment requirements
Progressive Care Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a progressive care or stepdown unit
- Monitor patients with complex medical needs and promptly recognize changes in condition
- Administer medications and treatments while maintaining accurate clinical documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning
- Prioritize care effectively during overnight shifts and respond to evolving patient needs
- Float to other appropriate hospital areas as needed and within the RN’s scope of practice
