Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit/Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of PCU experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Progressive Cardiac Telemetry Unit (PCTU) providing intermediate ICU-level care to adult and geriatric patients
• 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 24 and a 4:1 patient ratio
• Cares for patients with heart failure, post cardiac/vascular procedures, acute coronary syndrome, and related cardiac/medical-surgical conditions
• Manages patients pre/post cardiac catheterization, EP procedures, TAVR, Watchman device, and Mitral Clip
• Performs continuous cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and non-invasive airway management including BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and Opti-flow
• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, scheduled as 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Some floating required to the Cardiac Telemetry unit, with ratios up to 1:6 in a Med Surg assignment
• Uses Epic, PYXIS, and SBAR charting systems
• Self-scheduling based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at submission
• BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required (unit will not accept first-time travelers)
• Experience with telemetry, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and peripheral line care/management required
• Experience with post cardiac catheterization and post cardiac/vascular surgical care required
• Epic charting experience required
• Charge nurse experience and wound care/wound vac skills preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provides continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration including vasoactive drips, and pre/post procedural care
• Collaborates with the outpatient heart failure clinic for comprehensive disease management and end-of-life care
• Assists with elective/emergent cardioversions alongside cardiologist and anesthesia
• Scrubs required in any combination of navy and white
• Unit orientation is 36 hours
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO of 7 days or less may be auto-approved as long as it doesn't fall on a holiday, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying as a travel candidate
• Travel pairs are allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
