Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring 18 months of PCU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit within a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center
• 32-bed unit caring for patients with CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA
• RN to patient ratio typically 1:4, up to 1:5 depending on acuity
• CNA ratio 1:12 days and 1:16 nights
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks
• Possibility of low census call, callback up to 0300 for nights and 1500 for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Bedside and central station telemetry monitoring provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required
• Experience with tracheostomy care, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including ADL support, wound care, and medication administration within a progressive care setting
• Support team includes CNAs, daytime HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
